Slow-Cooked "Savoury Steak" Stew

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds of chuck steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 tablespoons of Spice Rack Co's Savoury Steak rub
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, sliced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • Olive oil
  • Salt to taste (if not included in the rub)

Instructions:

  1. Pat the steak cubes dry and coat them with the Savoury Steak rub.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Brown the steak cubes in batches, then transfer them to a slow cooker.
  3. In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed and sauté the onions, carrots, and celery until slightly softened.
  4. Add the garlic and cook for another minute before transferring the vegetables to the slow cooker.
  5. Pour the beef broth into the slow cooker. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce.
  6. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the steak is tender.
  7. Adjust seasoning if necessary and serve with crusty bread or over a bed of mashed potatoes.
