Pan-Searing "Savoury Steak" Method

Ingredients:

  • 2 New York strip steaks, about 1-inch thick
  • 2-3 tablespoons of Spice Rack Co's Savoury Steak rub
  • 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • Olive oil
  • Fresh rosemary and garlic (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Bring the steaks to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.
  2. Heat a heavy skillet (cast iron preferred) over medium-high heat.
  3. While the pan is heating, pat the steaks dry and coat them with olive oil.
  4. Rub the Savoury Steak seasoning into the steaks on both sides.
  5. Once the pan is hot, add the steaks. Add the butter, garlic, and rosemary to the pan if using.
  6. Sear the steaks for about 3-4 minutes on one side until a brown crust forms.
  7. Flip the steaks, spooning the melted butter and juices over the top, and sear for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare.
  8. Let the steaks rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  9. Serve with roasted fingerling potatoes and a simple arugula salad.
